Ill manors poster deconstruction

The grey colouring used in the poster is a key convention of urban drama posters, to represent the concrete feel of the setting. The lighting of this poster is dark which is a reflection of the narrative and issues explored in the film. The fish eye styled framing of the image is effective in disorientating the audience and making the buildings seem even taller and more intimidating. The plain and simple text stands out from the background, this also conforms to the conventions of urban drama film posters where the white or black text contrasts against the picture. This poster subverts conventions of urban drama posters by not using a third bright colour. It sticks to a dark, dull scheme which is most likely a reflection of the sinister story told in the film. Something which caught my eye in this poster was the image of the character overlapping the typography of the title. It is something which is probably a bit ambitious for us to achieve in our poster but we could look into it when experimenting with Photoshop. The tracksuit is appropriate mise en scene to the genre and the gun is also a feature which fits with the conventions of urban drama products.
