After uploading both of my chosen images into a new photoshop document I moved both of them into one layer. I then used to opacity tool to make the image of the skyline more transparent. Around 50% opacity gave the best effect for this.
This is how the image appeared after this transparency process. Whilst this still has an effective look, i wanted to make the skyline image appear only over the model, leaving the background white. I also thought it would be effective to slightly lighten the image that layers over the shadow in order to add another dimension to the final outcome.
To achieve my desired effect, I had to manipulate the colours on the first layer, specifically focusing on the background. I lightened the picture of the skyline so as to make the image less harsh over both the background and picture of the male. However, this still did not completely clear the background of the skyline so I therefore had to play around with the colour and intensity levels of the white background to get the image to completely disappear in these parts.
The next stage in the construction of the image was sharpening it as by previous stages had meant it had lost it's visual impact. Finally, I changed the intensity of highlights and shadows darkening some area in order to further conform to the conventions of urban drama.
I feel that the final outcome is a very effective a professional one. We could definitely consider using this in the construction of our actual poster.
