Phones in filming

As we are basing our narrative on the modern life of a drug dealer, phones could be a key part in the filming process. Therefore, similar to in our AS piece we need to practice how to edit together an effective and professional looking phone scene.

I took two videos of a person typing and sending the same message on the same position. This way i would be able to edit them together using math on action, to give two views on the same thing. For this simple process, I used windows movie maker to trim the clips and edit them together to flow fluently.
I trimmed the end of the first message shot from further away and the beginning of the second message shot from a ore close up angle. The first shot was an over the shoulder shot and the second as an extreme close up so that the audience could clearly red the message saying 'I'm here'.
I felt that the second part of the clip was too quick and didn't allow enough time for the audience to read the message. To improve this I altered the speed settings making it slower and therefore easier to read and understand. I think the technique of using two shots for the one message gave a good effect and flowed well. In our trailer we will have to ensure that the message is fully in focus in the close up.
